Dropr isn't showing on my store
If your recommendations don't show, or disappeared after a theme change, check these in order. Most of the time the fix is to turn Dropr on in your published theme and click Save.
Updated
What you see
- No recommendations on your product pages or in the cart drawer.
- Dropr's Home page says Dropr is off in your theme or Dropr isn't showing on your product page.
- Under Where Dropr shows up, a placement says Off in your published theme or Not found in the last check.
- An email from Dropr titled Dropr isn't showing on your store anymore.
- A Dropr block on your store says Recommendations unavailable.
Each time you open Dropr, Home checks whether your published theme has Dropr on. Once a day, Dropr also opens one of your product pages to look for it. When it finds Dropr, Home says Showing on your store. and when it last checked.
1. Check that you clicked Save
The theme editor changes nothing on your store until you click Save.
- In your Shopify admin, open Apps, then Dropr. Dropr opens on its Home page.
- If Home shows Turn on Dropr or Open the theme editor, click it. If it shows neither, turn Dropr on from the theme editor.
- In App embeds, check that Product page and cart recommendations is on.
- Click Save.
- Open a product page on your store in a normal browser tab.
2. Turn Dropr on again after a theme change
The Dropr switch and every Dropr block belong to one theme. A new theme, or a different one you publish, starts without them. This is the usual reason Dropr disappears.

- On Dropr's Home page, click Turn on Dropr. It opens your published theme with the switch on.
- Click Save.
- Add back any blocks you had placed, such as Bought together. See how to add each recommendation.
If Home doesn't show Turn on Dropr, turn Dropr on from the theme editor instead, then add back your blocks.
3. Check you're looking at your published theme
If you turned Dropr on in a copy of your theme, it shows only in that copy's preview. In the theme editor, your published theme shows Live next to its name, and a copy shows Draft. Turn on Dropr always opens the published theme, the one shoppers see. Turn it on there, or turn it on again after you publish the copy.
4. Check for a store password
While your store has a password, visitors see only the password page, so they don't see Dropr either. Home tells you when it finds a password on your store. Enter your password on your store to see Dropr yourself. See password-protected stores.
5. Check the first visit setting
If Dropr's Settings shows Only on a shopper's first visit and it's on, returning visitors don't see recommendations anywhere. That includes you after your first look. Open your store in a private browser window, or turn the setting off and click Save.
6. Check the Free plan's monthly views
On the Free plan, recommendations pause after 1,000 views in a calendar month, until the 1st. Home says Recommendations are paused, and a banner on Dropr's other pages says when they come back. See Free vs Starter.
7. Check that the recommendation is on
In Dropr's Recommendations, a recommendation marked Off doesn't show. Pick it, turn on Show in store, and click Save.
8. Check that Dropr has your products
Recommendations show once Dropr has loaded your products and picked their recommendations. Until Dropr is live, its Home page shows how far it got. Dropr needs at least 2 products for sale.
In the theme editor, a Dropr block with nothing to show yet says one of these. On your store, Dropr hides the block instead of showing it empty.
- Products that go with this one show up here.
- Add products and get a few orders to see what's bought together here.
- Your best sellers show up here.
- Products the shopper opened show up here after they browse a few.
If you added products in Shopify and they're missing, open Products in Dropr and click Update products from Shopify. See how to choose which products show.
Dropr leaves out products that are sold out or already in the cart. A store with only a few products may run out of products to show on some pages.
9. If the switch is on and saved but nothing shows
The switch looks for your theme's main product details and puts recommendations after them. It also looks for your theme's cart drawer. Some themes are built in a way Dropr can't read, and then the switch shows nothing there. The daily check can still say Showing on your store., because it looks for the switch on the page, not for the products.
- If the product page shows nothing, add the Product recommendations block where you want it. See the product page section.
- If the cart drawer stays empty with a product in it, Dropr may not know your theme's drawer. Add the Cart recommendations block to your cart page, so shoppers who open the cart page see them. See the cart page section.
- Still nothing? Email support@heydropr.com with your theme's name and your store's .myshopify.com address.
10. If only the cart drawer is empty
- Add a product to the cart, then open the cart drawer to check. Cart recommendations are picked to go with what's in the cart.
- If you set a Minimum cart total in Dropr's Settings, they wait until the cart reaches it.
- If your theme sends shoppers to a cart page instead of a drawer, add the Cart recommendations block. See the cart page section.
- If the drawer still shows nothing, see themes Dropr can't read.
